Dear Parents, Children and Friends of ISA,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our school! Since its opening in September 2005, International School Augsburg has grown and grown! It is a vibrant and exciting place to be! It makes me very happy to hear that our students love to come to school. I am convinced that we are offering them an excellent education; one which challenges and supports them to become the best they can be in everything they undertake.

The philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Organisation has significantly shaped our school identity and culture and we are wholeheartedly committed to continuing to build our school as a happy and caring institution where both teachers and students are encouraged to learn and grow professionally and personally, and where all community members demonstrate compassion for other human beings and for our world.

We currently have 265 students from 19 countries enrolled at our school. We employ 40 teachers from 17 different countries. We continue to have a high percentage of local German students, along with a steadily growing international student community whose families have been transferred to the Augsburg region. We currently have an average class size of 15 and a very favourable teacher student ratio.

ISA is a member of the Council of International Schools, a certified Cambridge Examination Centre (IGCSE) and an authorised IB Primary Years Programme school. The school is on track in its preparations for the IB Diploma Authorisation visit which is planned for February 2010.

ISA has well established programmes in the performing arts and sports and outdoor education. Our After School Activities Programme continues to grow. We have an enthusiastic School Advisory Group made up of parent representatives.

At ISA, we believe that we all learn best in an environment where we feel accepted, cared for and supported. It is a tribute to the teachers and staff at this school, that our students look forward to coming to school each morning; learning is fun and it is challenging. Our young people have grown in confidence and feel inspired to do their best in all areas of learning; in the classroom, on the playground, at sports events and art performances.

As we approach our fifth birthday, I look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I am grateful for the great support we have received from many local sources. I am confident that with the continued commitment of the ISA community, our school will continue to thrive.

Whether you are a prospective student, parent or interested teacher, I trust that browsing through these pages will give you the information you need and will show you what is so special about this school. I hope you will want to visit us here at ISA. We look forward to meeting you!

See some ISA action in our information film.
