Curriculum Statement
As a Bavarian ‘Ersatzschule’, we at ISA have incorporated the learning outcomes of the Bavrian curriculum into our curriculum plans. These learning goals will be incorporated into our own ISA Scope and Sequence documents, which we will develop over the next few years. These Scope and Documents will represent the knowledge, skills, concepts and attitudes our students will be expected to acquire during their Primary School Years. Our Programme of Inquiry describes the Units of Inquiry for each class from Early Years through to Grade 5. These units will incorporate aspects of history, geography, ethics, art, music, drama, sport, language and mathematics.
All of our teaching and our interactions with our students and one another, are guided by the philosophy of the IBO (International Baccalaureate Organisation) and the Student Profile (see www.ibo.org).
In terms of skills, ISA students will master similar goals to those described in state curricula. The methodology used to teach concepts and skills may differ. But the ideas and understandings explored and learnt will be transferable. Children will receive as much individual support as they need in order to be successful. Authentic and engaging approaches to learning will ensure that children learn “how to learn” with commitment and joy.
