Middle School
At our Middle School, we build on the foundations laid in the Primary Years Programme, focusing on deepening inquiry skills and fostering critical thinking. We encourage our students to believe in themselves, challenge their limits, and learn from their experiences.
A Diverse and Collaborative Curriculum
Our Middle School curriculum is dynamic and interdisciplinary, offering courses in English, German, Spanish, Computer Science, Mathematics, Humanities (History & Geography), Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology), Art, Music and Physical Education. Our teachers collaborate to plan, teach, and assess in ways that ensure learning is interconnected across subjects, encouraging students to explore the relationships between different areas of knowledge.
Beyond the Classroom
Middle School students enjoy a broad range of extracurricular activities, including sports, arts, and community service projects.
Additionally, our Create, Act, Serve (CAS) clubs allows students to participate in activities that ignite their passions and build essential life skills. These activities are integrated into the school schedule, taking up two lessons each week, and are designed to complement academic learning while fostering creativity and social responsibility.

Self-Management and Personal Growth
Our curriculum emphasizes self-management skills, especially in Grade 6, where students learn to organize their time, manage workloads, and set personal goals. These skills are cultivated through the IB Approaches to Learning (ATLs), which are central to our educational approach.
What Are ATLs?
Approaches to Learning (ATLs) are key skills that help students learn more effectively and become independent thinkers. In Middle School, we focus on developing these skills across five areas:
- Self-Management: Organizing time, setting goals, and managing tasks.
- Research: Finding, evaluating, and using information.
- Communication: Sharing ideas clearly in both writing and speaking.
- Social Skills: Working well with others and resolving conflicts.
- Thinking Skills: Critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
Technology and Resources
We are proud of our modern technology resources, including 1:1 Chromebooks for all students. These tools are integrated into the curriculum to enhance learning, research, and collaboration.
Enriching Experiences
Learning at our school extends far beyond the classroom. Students participate in outdoor education camps, cultural exchanges, and inter-school competitions.
Signature events include the German Reading Contest, Books Alive, Medieval Fair, and Science Talks.
These activities connect our students to the wider community and enrich their educational experience. Students are encouraged to explore new perspectives, build confidence, and apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings.
Assessment and Reporting
The academic year is divided into trimesters, with detailed reports issued at the end of each. Our grading system ranges from 1 to 7, where 1 represents emerging understanding and 7 indicates mastery. Continuous feedback ensures that students understand their progress and areas for improvement.
Academic Honesty
We uphold the International Baccalaureate's definition of academic honesty, which emphasizes values such as integrity, respect, and good practice. Any breach of our academic honesty policy is taken seriously, with clear consequences in place to uphold these standards.
